Welcome To Our Site...
I'm Amber, and I'm owned by a spunky little Bichon named Maxie. Maxie is my sunshine. She takes over my website quite often, but since she's much more entertaining than I am, I usually don't mind. So don't be surprised if you see a few posts signed by a little white ball of curls! We post all about our crazy world, and sometimes we even share photo glimpses of it as well. Welcome to our corner of the web!
No need to call Poison Control…
Posted By ~Amber on March 25, 2009
…dandelions are non-toxic.
Yes, this was a real concern today since Maxie has added seeking out and eating dandelions to her list of favorite things to do outside, right next to digging holes and eating bugs, of course. Grandma called me at work and said that Maxie was eating dandeloins (she can’t say it right. haha!) and wanted to know if they would hurt her because…she couldn’t stop her from doing it! Well, gee, I didn’t have a clue…so, off to Google I go.
Not only are dandelions not poisonous, they are high in Vitamins A and C, and in calcium! Maxie is doing her body good!
In searching, I also found this: Dandelion Wine. Maybe my girl is part wino.
Also found that the roots of dandelions can be used to detoxify the liver and gallbladder. Though something tells me she just eats the pretty yellow part. She’s that kind of girl.
Regardless, there is no need to panic in Maxie-land. We don’t have to run behind her everytime she sees a little yellow flower screaming “NO!”.

It’s been 9 years. And I miss you more with every single beat of my heart. Life just isn’t the same without you.
I love you, Pop.
Heavy Burden?
Posted By ~Amber on February 17, 2009
We complain about the cross we bear but don’t realize it is preparing us for the dip in the road that God can see and we cannot.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
Isaiah 40:28-31 “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the faint, and strengthens the powerless. Even youths will faint and be weary, and the young will fall exhausted; but those who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings of eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
Colossians 1:11-14 “May you be made strong with all the strength that comes from his glorious power, and may you be prepared to endure everything with patience, while joyfully giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has rescued us from the power of darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
May your cross be strong enough to prepare you for life’s bumps and dips, but light enough to carry when shared with His Ultimate Strength and Power.
It’s the little things…

Half asleep this evening, I answered my phone…not even looking to see who was calling, something I rarely do, BTW. I always check to see who is on the other end of the line (and then decide if I want to answer or not, I’m not gonna lie!
).
I tried really hard to sound awake and perky, but I’m sure I didn’t succeed, “Hello!”
I was greeted with an incredibly cheery voice on the other end…“Happy Valentine’s Day!!!”
Still trying to get myself fully awake, I tried to register the voice, but it wasn’t coming to me. Regardless, I did what any normal person would do. “Well, Happy Valentine’s Day to you, too!”
Obviously on a mission to greet the world with happiness and sunshine, the voice continued, “We were just calling to say Happy Valentines Day to you and say we love you very much!”
I try once again to place this voice…to no avail. So I quickly pull the phone away from my ear and glance at the number. I don’t recognize it. Considering my cousin had called 20 minutes prior from a number I didn’t recognize, I realized I couldn’t put much stock into that fact, so I tried a different method. “I hope you are having a great Valentine’s Day too, but…I’m sorry…who is this?”
The voice responded so quickly I didn’t hear it. I had to ask her to repeat it!
“It’s Carolyn!”
My brain is trying to process this as quickly as possible so “Carolyn” doesn’t think I’m am idiot or rude or a rude idiot. I do know a Carolyn, but she doesn’t live in the area code that the call was placed from…and, this DEFINITELY wasn’t her voice. I’d know her voice.
Before I even finish my thinking process, “Carolyn” interupts. “Who is this?”
I paused for a second – I usually don’t tell wrong numbers my name. Then I realized “Carolyn” had made a completely innocent mistake and was harmless…and cute as can be! “This is Amber.”
“Carolyn” didn’t miss a beat.
“Oh, is Jenny there?”
I couldn’t help but giggle a little. She didn’t have a clue. By now, I’m fully awake and I’ve got it all figured out.
“No, I’m sorry. There is no Jenny here. I think you may have the wrong number.”
My new phone buddy was as sweet as she could be. “Oh me, do I? I’m so sorry. I was calling to wish my granddaughter a Happy Valentine’s Day and I’ve called and bothered you instead. I’m so sorry.”
I’m instantly in love with Carolyn. “You haven’t bothered me one bit. I actually appreciate the Valentine’s Day call, even if it wasn’t meant for me. You made my night. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine’s Day. Your granddaughter is lucky to have such a sweet grandmother!”
She said a few more things and laughed about her mistake, apologized some more and said she was going to go call Jenny. I hope she was able to get in touch with her.
It was enough to make me want to find the numbers of people who live alone with no family, or who feel forgotten and left alone (or, like me and half asleep! LOL), and “accidentally” dial the wrong number occasionally and wish them a good day…just because. If Carolyn can do it, so can I.
Such a sweet ending to Valentine’s Day.
Hope yours was great. And to Jenny, whoever you are, give your grandmother a hug and kiss for me. She’s precious.
I’m baaaack!

Mommy went to bed early tonight. Since her computer has been broken and she just got it back, I haven’t been able to surf the internet while she’s been away and write on her website. Since she is asleep, I thought now was a good time to use her new computer since she thinks I’m sleeping too.
It’s a good thing I decided to check out her new computer. I found all kinds of things Mommy has been doing on here. I found all of her Christmas pictures that she hasn’t showed you yet. I think Mommy is kind of forgetful. I’ll let her share her favorites, but let me show you how Christmas went for me!
I looked really pretty on Christmas day. Mommy gave me a bath and I had a cool Christmas collar on that had bells on it. I jingled every time I walked. I thought that was really cool! You can’t really see my collar because I have so much hair.
First, Mommy gave me fun presents to open. At least… she said they were fun to open.
I didn’t see what the big deal was honestly.
But, I opened it anyway, because Mommy wanted me to.
But then, Aunt Stephanie and Uncle James gave me a super cool treat! Check it out!
A bone! With my name on it! YUMMY!!!
Gamma gave me a present too. Hers said, “To: Ragmuffin. Love: Lacey.” Gamma always calls me Ragmuffin. It always makes my tail wag hard.
Then, everyone else got to open their presents, and the worse thing in the world happened.
